Which Courts Sit at the Vancouver Courthouses?

Vancouver’s courts are spread across four separate downtown buildings, and each one handles different matters. Filing at the wrong counter costs you a day, so it pays to know where your documents belong. Our servers file at the Vancouver courthouses every day and know exactly which counter takes what.

  • Vancouver Law Courts (800 Smithe Street) – BC Supreme Court: civil actions, divorce and family property, criminal, probate and estates, and bankruptcy. The BC Court of Appeal also sits here.
  • Robson Square Provincial Court (800 Hornby Street) – Provincial Court small claims (up to $35,000), family matters under the Family Law Act, child protection, youth criminal, and traffic.
  • Vancouver Provincial Court (222 Main Street) – Provincial Court adult criminal matters, including bail hearings and the Drug Treatment Court.
  • Downtown Community Court (211 Gore Avenue) – A specialized Provincial Court criminal court.

British Columbia does not have a unified family court, so family matters are split between the two court levels. The Provincial Court at Robson Square handles parenting arrangements, child and spousal support, and protection orders, but divorce and the division of family property must go to the BC Supreme Court at 800 Smithe Street. If you’re unsure where your documents need to go, send them to us — knowing the right counter is our job.

The Port Coquitlam courthouse opened full Supreme Court registry services in June 2025, providing in-person filing and registry services for Supreme Court civil and family matters. The courthouse also handles Provincial Court criminal, family, small claims, and traffic matters for the Tri-Cities and surrounding communities.

Parking at the Vancouver Courthouses

Street parking in downtown Vancouver is limited and metered. For the Law Courts at 800 Smithe Street and Robson Square at 800 Hornby Street, the most convenient options are the nearby underground parkades, including Pacific Centre, and the surrounding paid lots. For the Provincial Court at 222 Main Street, there are paid lots along Main Street and in the surrounding area. Please note that the New Westminster Law Courts parkade is currently closed due to construction. We recommend arriving early as parking fills up quickly on busy court days.
