The Grande Prairie Courthouse is located right downtown, attached to the provincial government building and next door to the R.C.M.P. detachment (which is transitioning to the Grande Prairie Police Service, expected to become the police of primary jurisdiction in October 2026).

Court Sitting Schedules:

Criminal: Every Monday & Wednesday at 9:00 AM. Every Tuesday at 9:30 AM (Provincial Statutes). 2nd and 4th Thursday (Domestic Violence).

Family & Youth: Every Monday at 9:00 AM (Youth). Every Tuesday at 9:30 AM (Family & Child Enhancement).

Driving: Grande Prairie is located northwest of Edmonton. Travel north on Highway 43 from just outside Edmonton, or north on Highway 40 from just outside Hinton.

Flying: Grande Prairie is serviced by the Grande Prairie Airport (YQU) with regular flights to and from Edmonton (YEG) and Calgary (YYC). Charter flights are also available. Car rentals are available at the airport and are staffed when flights arrive.
